Reggae History Note:   Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers were a reggae group made up of four of Bob Marley's children: Ziggy, Stephen, Sharon, and Cedella. They formed the MELODY MAKERS when they were TEENAGERS in 1979. They performed at their father's funeral in 1981. In 1988, Virgin Records Signed the Band and Released the "CONSCIOUS PARTY" Album. It Won A Grammy.
JAN 31, 2009 3,000 MUSICIANS, 200 BANDS compete for $175,000 in scholarships at Berklee's 41st annual high school jazz competition.

The day will feature concerts and clinics that are free and open to the public. Highlights include trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis and vibist Jason Marsalis, who will perform with Berklee City Music students; world-class drummers Gregg Bissonette (Santana, Ringo Star), John Blackwell (Justin Timberlake, Prince), and Terri Lyne Carrington (Herbie Hancock, Al Jarreau); and Utah's Crescent Super Band, which Down Beat magazine named the top performing high school-aged big band in the country.
